Who we are
Sawt Al-Bait (“صوت البيت”, “the Extension”, “we”) is a free Chrome extension that plays ambient soundscapes inspired by everyday life in Jordan. It is an independent personal project.
The short version
We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. Ever. The extension runs entirely on your device. Nothing leaves your browser.
What data the extension handles
Memories you write If you choose to use the Memory Wall feature, the text you write — your name (optional), neighborhood (optional), and memory — is saved using chrome.storage.local. This means it is stored exclusively on your own device, inside your browser. It is never sent to any server, never read by us, and never shared with any third party. You can delete any memory you write at any time directly inside the extension.
No account, no sign-in The extension requires no account, no email address, and no personal information of any kind to function.
No analytics We do not use Google Analytics, tracking pixels, or any analytics service. We have no visibility into how you use the extension, which sounds you play, or how often you open it.
No advertising The extension contains no advertisements and no advertising SDKs. No advertiser has any access to your data or behavior.
Permissions and why we need them
storage Used only to save your Memory Wall entries to your local browser storage via chrome.storage.local. No data is sent externally.
tabs Used only to open the app in a browser tab when you click the toolbar icon, and to check whether the tab is already open so we don’t open a duplicate. We do not read, monitor, or access the content of any tab — yours or anyone else’s.
Third-party services
The extension loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com) to display Arabic and Latin typography correctly. This is a standard font request, the same as millions of websites use. Google may log this request according to their own privacy policy, available at https://policies.google.com/privacy. No other third-party services are used.
No audio is streamed from external servers. All sounds are generated locally using the Web Audio API built into your browser.
Children’s privacy
The extension does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. It contains no features that require or encourage sharing personal information.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how the extension handles data, we will update this policy and change the “Last updated” date above. Given that the extension collects no data, we do not anticipate material changes.

Sawt Al-Bait is a personal project built with care for the Jordanian diaspora. Your memories are yours. We just hold the space.
You’ll need to host this somewhere with a public URL — the Chrome Web Store requires a live link to your privacy policy, not just the text. The easiest free options are a GitHub Gist (gist.github.com — paste the text, set it public, use that URL) or a simple Google Sites page. Either takes about five minutes and gives you a permanent link you can paste into the store listing.
